The Jabbok Centre is a therapy centre designed particularly for clergy, though all who feel they need therapy are more than welcome to make an appointment. Founded and directed by Fr. Jim Hannon, the Centre was set up in 1995 to provide therapy for clergy. However, horizons were soon broadened, and we now have a clientele from all walks of life. The name stems from the Jabbok River, where Jacob, ailing from wrestling with God, went to find refuge. This, we believe was the start of therapy. Commissioned by the Bishop of Cloyne in the early 1990s, the Centre was set up and opened in 1995 under the directorship of Fr. Jim Hannon, M.A. who runs it also. Set in peaceful surroundings in Co. Cork, Ireland, it provides a tranquil haven to restore calm in body and mind. | A history and brief introduction | |||||||||||||
